FAQ
Is this an exact legal amount?
No. It is an estimate based on the federal CCPA formula and each state general rule. Actual garnishment depends on the debt type, court orders, and current law — confirm with the court or a local attorney.
Why does my state show $0?
If your weekly disposable income is at or below $217.50, the federal floor protects it all. If you picked a state that bans consumer-debt garnishment (Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania), the calculator returns $0 for consumer debt — though child support, taxes, and student loans are exceptions.
Does head of household change the result?
In states with a head-of-household wage exemption (for example Florida), selecting "Yes" can reduce or zero out consumer-debt garnishment. In other states it does not change the federal floor.
